Goals and Objectives

To initiate high customer service while overseeing day to day floor operations in regard to sales, staffing, proper sourcing/On Order Management, merchandising, housekeeping, par stocks, and member profiles.  Serve as the liaison between upper retail management, Club General Manager and the customer.  To be aware of daily tee sheets and member/guest profiles to maximize sales.  Able to generate reports of weekly, monthly, and annual retail performance through established systems.



  • Maintain and manage the seasonal receipt flow of seasonal merchandise purchases through the On-Order maintenance requirements and floor rotation policies
  • Maintain the company purchase order procedure in conjunction with the On-Order Process
  • Update and maintain all vendor contact information as it relates to seasonal offerings and vendor profiling for future sourcing opportunities. Build relationships and establish good rapport with multiple vendors both in the Hawaiian Islands and elsewhere.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures regarding initial mark up, receipt category assignments, markdowns, and special event purchasing.
  • Maintain a presence with the membership to become a recognizable and approachable part of the project and community. 


Inventory Control:

  • Conduct physical inventory updates for the POS system and all required reconciliation activities.
  • Coordinate post and recount the monthly inventory for the shop for final approval by the Regional Merchandise Manager.
  • Maintain inventory shrink parameters as compared to sales performance for physical monthly inventories
  • Monitor best sellers and basic stock items.
  • Maintain efficiency of on-order by identifying sell through as compared to recorded ship windows for product and markdown as required to manage turnover of inventory.
  • Manage inventory receipt flow through On Order system indicators reflecting status
  • Responsible for all inventory set up and maintenance in POS system as established by DLC Retail and the property inventory structure.



  • Assist and service members and their guests with all retail needs.
  • Know product features and benefits to promote multiple selling and assist with training golf staff
  • Close sales on a positive note, i.e., gift-wrap, thank-you notes.
  • Implement correct point of sale procedures for retail sales.
  • Responsible for managing the merchandising floor plan and stock rotation/presentation.
  • Work directly with Regional Merchandise Manager: guidance merchandising and rotating displays on a regular basis.
  • Stock merchandise on floor according to on order timelines and re-tag as needed.
  • Handle all customer returns and special requests.
  • Responsible for meeting monthly sales goals for gross volume and gross profit.
  • Assist in maintaining daily, monthly and yearly sales budget projections through promotion and customer service, receipt flow management, floor rotations, retail revenue events etc.


Other Responsibilities: POS, Financial, and General:

  • Carry out any special projects deemed necessary by upper management.
  • Maintain adequate levels of all merchandise related materials, i.e., packaging, tagging, equipment boxes, etc.
  • Track and document all transfer activity in/out of inventory to account for inventory adjustments.
  • Save all required Month End Reports from POS as advised
  • Monitor and implement all POS upgrades as they relate to retail and inventory procedures as approved by Director of Corporate Retail.


Competencies required for success

  • 1-3 years of prior retail experience.
  • Prior experience in hospitality, real estate, golf and/or private club preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, and knowledge of additional communication platforms (i.e. Jonas, Club Essentials, Alice).

  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holiday and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
  • Ability to travel and assist and possibly train at other Discovery Land Company Clubs.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than four (4) hours, and lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
